preparing the the TREK WESTWARD HO!!!!

(please note that the images below are VIDEOS for those that didnt click on the last couple :) - you know who you are)

So it has been while since we last updated, but we are all still here.

Silas had his 9 month check up
The stats:

22.9 lbs - in the 75th percentile
28.75 inches - in the 75th percentile
Head - 46 cm OFF THE CHART
a HUGE noggin :) but we live bighead junior.

Silas' first snow, well a whole whoppin 1-2" inches

Silas' first christmas presents :) - awesome zoo truck, fun flyer ride toy, and a beach buggy walkin toy. Of course nana and papa also threw in a wonderful noisy book.

and the best part - Silas got his first tooth punching through today! So dont go sticking nothing in his mouth that is attached to you.

as for the rest of this year, well we will have to see what is in-store for us in arKansas. Hopefully some long restful nights, a nice LOWKEY! birthday, and maybe a couple of sausage balls (even if i have to keep taking flippin crestor and the "pee" pill for my BP)
Katie - the new years resolutions are stacking up over here.

Oh yeah- i turn 31 this year to top it off.

All silas wants for christmas is his two front teeth.....

Well we are in our final countdown till turkey day, and we will be packing up the saturn to go onto winston salem to see nana and papa.

its also Dads birthday today, he is lot'sa old.
cant wait to see him and mom have to chase our lil capn' morgan around the house. he really liked all their magazines last weekend.

The weekend was just not long enough. Its just been one of those months.
But Silas hasnt noticed. We have a great new game, its alot like fetch :)

we also discovered Silas waiting for us this morning after his nap.

but alas, thats all for tonight. carrie wants us to re-organize the closet - good times yall.

Count down to CHRISTMAS!!!!

Why is it every year we creep closer and closer to having a Christmas season that spans from Halloween through December....i mean TURKEY day is a great holiday- when else can you blow up a turkey, fall asleep in front of the tv, and watch your baby boy ramsack his nana's collectibles.

well as we ponder that, Silas is 8 months old today.
He is still in the fussy mode. If this is not teething then who knows (and no katrina its not an ear infection, it might just be he is tired of this Edward character his aunt keeps drooling over).

but tommorrow will hopefully be precluded by a nice long 6 hours of sleep for mama and daddy which will let us prep the lil man for picture day - if they turn out, then we will post :)

YAY ITS HALLOWEEN

So yet another weekend is already half over. BUT it is halloween!

Derek and Katie have had their new baby boy, he is a small 11 lbs 9 oz. and is as cute as can be.
from the updates, all are doing well.

as for us, we braved elmos, this morning, silas got to see a sailor, a somewhat skimpy dressed red riding hood, and STATIC CLING - now that was a costume. after a rather, bleh breakfast (we think something was lost and is nevermore at dear dear elmos- so no going there a while) we went to goodwill and then to the Roomstore. Not that we can buy anything, but we wanted to see what they had. we need better seating considering all the visitors we get. that and carrie and i want to be able to stretch out with the boy on the couch.
after the assualt of the three furniture sales people, we then went to a bookstore, and off to target.
Target is kinda like costco on a saturday now.
Phew what a whirlwind of mean cranky people there. but silas handled it like a champ.

we still didnt win the million dollars at mcdonalds monopoly, but i did find a half chewed popcorn kernel in my sweatshirt, so that is better than nothing.

now its housework time. carrie has the cleaning stick out and im goin to have to scrub like i never have scrubbed before, well at least not in the last week anyways.

silas got ot go trick or treat to adam and elizabeth's house. he enjoyed seeing Aida their dog, and stared at the kong bone as if it was a treat for him the whole time.

ITS FINALLY FALL

While things are not going the greatest in the working world, at least we are all still thankful for having such a wonderful baby boy to come home to.

He has been developing into quite the little orator. Now if we can only work on his table manners.

Hard to imagine he is going to be 7 months already Also it brings us to two other fantastic milestones.

Care-bear (thats the mama) has turned 29....one more foot closer to being OLD OLD OLD.

Soon, we also will be hitting our 3 year anniversary come the 21st of October, yeah its almost as bad as December where my BDay is 22nd....lets just say i get Bday presents often wrapped in christmas paper :) - Carrie wants yall to know that she has NEVER wrapped any of my birthday presents in christmas paper.

it feels so long ago since we did the deed on the beach, but guess time really flies when your having fun (or being nagged, or dragged, or flogged around :) we love you care-bear.

isnt the 3rd year anniversary the pickle anniversary, hope so, cause thats all we can really afford these days. Silas keeps eating us outa house and home.

now back to watching House and postponing thinking about what tommorrow's corporate world will bring us. eh at least we have jobs right.

Attack of the chair and the giggly boy

Our boy is 6 months old today (well yesterday)
He is 26.5 inches, is 19.3 lbs and has a head diameter off the chart (no comments from the sierras please about "bighead")

He is now wearing 12 month clothes, cause most 9 month close cap off at the length that he is up to.

He is eating 2nd stage foods, enjoys those dissolving cereal puffs, and his doc says he can try experimenting with more table foods. She is very impressed with Silas' hand to hand dexterity with toys and is definitely becoming mobile.

we also had to buy him new clothes. out with the 6 month and under in with the 12 month and older (somewhere he decided he would just skip 9 month clothes). Also very happy with clothes we got from Mamaw and soon to be received from Nana.

We also had to invest in a high chair as he is learning to scoot across the floor, the counter, and even with the bumbo attached to his bum.

other than this exciting bit of news. we spent the rest of the time at work work and work. even saturday and sunday. Bleh.

so now its off to bed and presumable nightmares of projectile brown sludge (dont ask how, but lil man can defy gravity with his "special sauce" but that is a story for next time- the things they dont tell you about fatherhood.

is it just me....or is that a big fish

TGI-Labor day.....that was our theme this weekend.

We headed for the coast to the Holland farm right after work......let me tell you- BIG MISTAKE.
4+hours in the car later we made it to onslow.

It only took 145 minutes to get to smithfield, a 30 min drive normally. By then baby mama and baby were both hungry, my butt was asleep, and lets just say we werent singing beach music.

But we are all troopers and we pushed on....THANK YOU DRILL SARGEANT

so we made it to the house. fortunately aunt pam had the light on for us. It was eerie quiet. Except for the carcasses of a few "water bugs" the house was in good shape, mom and others were quite busy getting things left for the fam to use the house as a reststop.

We got boy down at his normal bedtime and collapsed soon after. Minus the scrunchy mattress sounds, grandma had a thing about matress wraps i guess, it was a well deserved rest.

Saturday brought weed wacking, snake grabbing, and a side of ripping vines off the house. After that, we left the remaining army of workers to the other yard task and
headed for the beach.

for those unfamiliar with the Emerald Isle area, it was living well up to its name. the water was beautiful emerald green, nice and warm, and minus the tattooed women and hairy earing men, it was very relaxing. Silas enjoyed 1o mins in the water and sand (we forgot his sun lotion)

to make up for it, we then took him to the aquarium at pine knoll shores. I know some folks out here might think he is still a little young for things like that, but man he LOVED watching the sharks and tuna in the tank. Definitely puts it in perspective to see how big he is, yet small compared to a 10 ft shark.
after that, we had dairy queen, and silas made us a special treat of his own. Lets just say lil swimmers are not all that good at keeping water in.......

silas got to enjoy ice cream, banana pudding and even some bacon juice, not that i know where he got that from....
it was a good weekend all in all.

video camera fun

some random videos of the past couple weeks :) he is getting big folks, soon he'll be able to mow the lawn and get a job to buy his mama and daddy some toys!

free at last....free at last...TGIF....Free at last...

So been a few weeks for those of you tuning in and we figure your getting tired of the past re-runs. so heres the recap.

Our cousins have com
e and gone, from Arkansas, to Durham, NC, then to

TN, then to Arkansas.
AND WE MISS THEM ALREADY

Silas enjoyed his time with Emma and Evan, almost as much as spending time with his Mamaw and Grandpa.

We had board game nite (which was the night of a 1001 smells.....just ask katrina what she fed her kids before coming here). Grandpa caught up my honey do list, yeah im slack, but i have an excuse- i was sick...... WE HAVE A
CEILING FAN!!!
AND we taught emma and evan to brush their TONGUES, something that carrie had to tell me about as well. see tongues have to be brushed a certain way, just like hair :)

We also got to cook for Aunt Lynn, or as we know her - that crazy lady from Cary!. Even Joey stopped by and enjoyed in the extended family merriment.

Over the last
weekend we got to go see Great Papaw Walker, even if it did mean that Silas' first trip out of state was to TN...i know, but thats all we could do on a shoestring.

Papaw introduced Silas to all kinds of things......Goats, the Nola Chuckey River (from the front porch), french fries, biscuits, and even PAPER.

Silas thinks Papaw has been around his goats too long, babies dont eat paper, that picture musta been a forgery.

Home again Home again....FINALLY

Well it has been a LONG week.
Swansboro - Round Trip twice
Charlotte (well cornelius) round trip friday-sunday

and finally back here in g, good old Dur-HAM

The family reunion in cornelius went well. The blevins men got to talk a bunch, evan and emma took a spin on the ss minnow (specifically the "3-hour" tour part of it, and yes nina they wore Life jackets and sat buddied up - you worry wort) I spent most of the time on the couch in a daze from congestion and sleep deprevation.
The food was diverse-- in one weekend we had cold cuts, hamburgers, bad hotel coffee, shrimp boil, and a smorgasborg of pork and waffles for breakfast. uncle pat really rang the bell (well he had lots of highly qualified help - between all the other women and menfolk down there)

Driving the smoky filthy rent-a-van has definitely made me sick. No voice and a dry disgusting cough. That or the wonderful aroma from my niece and nephew, i didnt know something so stinky could come out of those sooo small. Even silas started having watery eyes.

Tonight we celebrated a well deserved rest by playing risk. Nothing brings out the best in family night by watching aunt Carrie (Carebear the destroyer) wipe the board with Evan, Emma, and myself, but between you and i, i let her win because shes my wife and all.

Considering the attention span of teenagers and the competitive love of a brother and sister all piled onto the table, we made it through relatively joyfully. Next time, im bringing some loaded dice though.

Silas on the otherhand had a longer night yet. He tried oatmeal cereal and some peas, well attempted to try as he projectile spit it out all over himself and his green bumbo.

So just bottles for the remainder of the night. thinking the smoky car, all of the stimulation, and a slight advancement towards full blown teething has caused it. But no worries, momma b and carrie ruled the evening and got him calmed and asleep.

Thats it for now, i need to go chug some more robotussin or something. The grape flavored is quite tasty. Wheezy, signing off....

sad times in parsons household

For those of you that dont know, my grandma holland, annie bell holland, passed away friday evening, July 24, at 1026 pm. She passed peacefully.

The viewing is tommorrow night in swansboro and the funeral will be thursday morning at 10am at piney grove baptist church.

She lived a very full life, surving my grandpa holland by several years, long enough to hold her first great grandchild, silas, and see Mom's (annie bell's only daughter) children completely married off with Jessica marrying Chris this past June.

We will greatly miss her and are very sad that Silas will not get to experience the very unique spice that Annie Bell brought to any conversation nor her stubborn strength to serve as the proud matriarch of the Holland Family.

At LONG last....

So its already July, can you believe it.
The tomatoes are ripe, the pumpkin vines are running wild, and our boy is 4 MONTHS OLD :)

Today he had his doctors appointment. He is 15 lbs 2 oz, 25 1/2 inches, and has a 47 cm head. (thats one noggin).Respectively that puts him in the 60% for weight, 75% for length, and 95% head.

Carrie has gotten him eating rice cereal every night. He also has been taking the culinary tour. He started with apples, then moved to pears (which carrie thought were mealy- but she doesnt like those exotic fruits). When carrots came around, he loved them better than apples, even daddy likes them. This week it has been sweet potatoes. Unfortunately doctor has said that its time for him to try some green beans, hopefully he likes them better than his momma, she doesnt like those green veggies.

The rest of the time has been devoted to trying to clean the house, stay ahead of those pesky bills, and find time to sleep between our colds. Silas hasnt gotten them yet, but he is definitely making us get our money's worth from the gross little snot ball sucker thing. EWW

Hope you all are well!

T - Minus 2 weeks for the Blevin's return to NC- we all get to go to charlotte for the Blevin's family reunion.

Baby Silas

Silas had a busy first week-
Two doctors visits
3 visits from the adcock clan (He really loves uncle joe's fuzzy beard and agrees with me that that lynnielam is a crazy lady)
The inlaws and Nina helped him adapt to life in the shanti, as well as keeping us well stocked in sugary snacks, cheezy delights, and A WONDERFUL STAND MIXER (that i have named horace)

we are slowly getting him adapted to feeding Au Naturale. Carrie is doing well sticking with it, and i am doing what i can do to help.

Silas had his first outing yesterday with Carrie and I to LOWES, yes, he is already being subjected to power tools and plants (well vegetable plants) but he enjoyed every minute of it, so much so that he was asleep the whole time.

Hope all is well
